Aquamaxx nemo light !? Programming help

Does anyone have any experience programming this ligjt ?! I have been trying to program it for over a week now . If the light is set at 8 am for 12Hour cycle which is the only option. I am trying to get it to have a sunrise and sunset effect that last a few hours . I can't seem to get it and I am starting to notice a green algae on glass that wasn't there before . I have went over directions 10x and have done everything it says .
