Aquarium shutdown, wish me luck!

Thanks to an extremely concerning seam, I am upgrading my tank and redoing my room! It is very exciting but also stressful!


I have to shutdown the current aquarium to paint the room, get new carpet, and plumb the sump to the new build. hopefully all of that will only take a week.
I have 2 clownfish, yellow banded possum wrasse, yellow watchman goby, yellow striped cardinalfish, and a tailspot blenny.



Everything will go into a 40 breeder for only a week, hopefully. I have a par meter and plan on using the kessil a160we to get some light on the breeder. I consume about 10 mL of All for reef a day, though it is mostly coralline consumption, I dont have many coral.

I’m glad you got the cube drilled when you did!

I’m helping a local reefer do exactly the same thing for the same reason (reefer 425xl (G1) to Fiji Cube 95 int rimless)…

It’s a shame this is happening at all… best of luck with the transfer! Are you using the rip clean method?

Actually, this seam has been looking rough for a while now

But also mine is not a red sea. I don't fault the manufacturer, I bought it used before I had any idea what I was doing. lol It could be from the chipped corner, the diy stand, or just old. I did store it for a couple years but it was temp controlled.

As for rip clean, I have aquacultered liverock and it is still in really good condition. I have only a few spots of hair algae that I've been too busy to scrub and some kind of flatworm problem that recently came up. I'll just scrub those some between the transfer.

Then for the sand, it isn't very deep and I have a pistol shrimp that tosses it from each side of the tank. I'll just stir it up and drain it a few times. The shrimp does a lot of work... lol

That looks like a lot of rock and corals to try and fit into a 40 breeder. i might put some of those rocks in a Brute or 5 gallon buckets for the week and not over crowd the fish and corals for the short duration?

My thinking was to drill the 40B for a bulkhead or two so it can run to the pre-existing sump, or a tote/trash can sump full of rock!

Carpet arrives monday. I have another aquarium I could setup and perhaps I will.

I am excited to report the only critter left in the tank is this sad limpet :C I found a lot of serpent stars and a 7" bristle worm!

Here is the breeder. I have a top fin lid for it and still need to raise the water a bit more. It is indeed quite full.
I have the 2 nero 3s for flow a 125w heater and a bubbler in the back right corner.
