Hey Reefers! I am reconstructing my aquascape & hoping for your opinion on what direction to head in. For context, this is a 13.5g nano. I intend to keep a mixed reef with a couple fish. Space for coral is the priority for me, but also aesthetics. Keep in mind, scape 1 was my completed aquascape, but then noticed a piece that would make a tunnel. If I went that direction I still need to epoxy them together and make it look more natural. Are tunnels overplayed? Let me know what you think!

personally like 1 better
tunnels and caves aren’t overplayed at all
plenty of fish will use them to escape predation/ also just to rest
lower flow in those spots can also help some pods stay suspended longer
my only recommendation other than that
get a piece of live rock/ or established bio media to throw in with
ugly algae and such will not be as much of an issue early on if you start with some good life vs if you do just bleach white rock

Tank is already cycled with live rock & sand. I just don't like the aquascape. That is another reason I like option 1 better as well. I can put the big half in first & leave some cycled rock in, let the new rock cycle for a couple weeks, then add in the remaining half and hope i don't end up with another mini cycle.

I like 1 better, but you could add a small arch to it. Maybe on top of front piece to the back right piece.
