So this is my tank that has been running for about 18 months. I am still running the stock light, pump and skimmer. Although I did ditch the big chunk of foam and the little foam squares it comes with and built my own media basket. For flow I have a Reefwave 25 mounted vertically running random at 40%.
inhabitants are:
Starry Blenny
Two clowns
Purple fire fish
Chromis
Blue damsel
Clyde the Conch

Upgraded my light today to the nicrew 100w hyper reef. Light is nice mount is a little less desirable. It’s definitely more powerful than my stock light that came with the tank. Hopefully see some improvement in growth.

That black sand looks amazing. Beautiful tank! I'm just setting up this tank myself and not loving the big black sponge it has. What do you have going on with that egg crate media basket replacement?

If you use black sand be very careful. It is slightly magnetic and really messed my glass up before o realized what was happening. As for the egg crate replacement I YouTubed a DIY media basket. Really easy actually. I chose Reef safe glue instead of zip ties. It allows for easy filter floss change every couple days. It’s has made a huge difference in might nitrate phosphate battle. Best mod I have done hands down.

Got myself some orphek lenses. So I thought I would upload some better pictures.

Very nice! I'm thinking about buying this tank used for 220 bucks. Is the glass low iron? I'm kinda hesitant because of how tall it is instead of going a little wider.

Also while cleaning the tank can you reach the bottom?
I can but it’s not easy. I do wish it was not as tall. For reference I am 6’3 and I have to roll my sleeve up. When I finally upgrade out of this I will definitely go for something shallower.

Ty i did turn it down as it had a decent chip in the back that wasn't disclosed

What did you do with the baskets that came with the 40 gallon?
