With hunting season approaching I though it will be a good idea to start an AR picture thread. I know I am the only AR person here.

I built this AR30 a little while ago. It was my first build and my go to hunting rifle.

I'd have to open the safe and find my two M&P 15s, LOL. They are buried behind too many AKs. Have the 15-22 and 15 sport.

Thanks Reduck it was a lot of fun to build. I would like to see pictures of your AR. My AK collection consists of a converted Saiga 12, Romanian G and a aks-74u. I will get some pics and start an AK thread later.

Oh wait, I don't have any yet. I'm not sure if I want to get an AR, which I love and am very familiar with, or an AUG.

Go with an AR. Everyone should on at least one Ar. for the price of the Aug you can build a very nice Ar and have money left over for magazines and ammo.

AUGs=cool factor of 10 out of the box even if it's NJ legal.
ARs=cool factor X. How much do you want to spend?

My MP was cheap out of the box, but has twice its value mounted on the rails. Most of the cooler parts are not NJ legal so maybe that's why I'm not that into AR. Though I could have my barrel threaded and muzzle brake pinned on, it's just not worth it. I'll probably end up selling the MP to fund some collectible AK one day soon.

I'd buy the AUG and call it a day. I have a Red Jacket ZK bull pup and love it. I was looking at AK bull pup stocks and it they weren't so expensive, I'd do that as a bullpup too.

My only hesitation, other than cost, is that support for an AUG will never match support for the AR platform. Should I need parts, I want to be able to source them quickly and at a reasonable price.

True. It is like a Chevy part versus Benz part...AR parts are everywhere.

Out of the box the AUG is a much cooler rifle out of the box. The customization of an AR is what makes it so great. You should build an AR it is fairly easy and you won't regret it.

Not quite. lol. Just the HWS and 3x magnifier and an AFG. Nothing more needed. I have the identical setup on both M&Ps. I'll get them outta the safe this weekend and take some pics..
