I have FOWLR , I have 4butterflyfish in QT . This is first time I have butterflyfish, always stayed away from them . Wanted to add some type of coral that can survive . Not sps . I don’t have a system for those . I was also thinking toadstools . I have read that they like to munch on aptasia , Xenia .I will add pulsing Xenia if it’s their food source . Don’t want to spend money on something that will be expensive food . And any issues with mushrooms or GSP ?

Depends on the butterfly. EG I have a copperband that touches none of my corals, sps lps or softies.

I steered away from Copperband . Bought blackbacked Chaetodon Melannotus . And Pakistani white collar butterflyfish Chaetodon collare . All in QT right now the blackbacked are aggressive feeders , That’s what I like about them the Pakistani is a bit picky , right now he only eats bloodworms . Will try blackworms as soon as a LFS brings the next batch in. , looking for a grindal worm culture locally .

The copperbands were the ones I was looking at to begin with . LFS brought a whole bunch in . They didn’t seem to be eating . With all the stories of them not eating steered me away . . I set up an aptasia tank . And had blood worms and mysis to see if they would accept . Still looking for a grindal worm culture . I haven’t ruled copperbands out completely . I went with the blackbacked due to cost and how good they looked . The blackbacked are not timid at all . Just what I am looking for the 125 . The collare was on a door buster sale for 60ea . There were only 2 left by the time I got to the LFS . Wasnt. On my list to buy them but someone swooped in and got my target = yellow lined cardinals . Did some research on the collare while there and purchased the last two . One did not make it past two days . It was breathing fast and not interested in food when I put them in qt . Next day he was floating . Don’t know what it was . But the rest are all n QT for another month. They seem alright . Just need to get the collare on other food options

They are at a school . I maintain the saltwater systems there . My last kid is a senior there in HS . I do this for the science awareness at the school . The school many years ago needed a boost in science . I wanted to improve the school so I took it upon myself rather than complain about it . . So I set up snakes , lizards , tarantulas , and FW and SW systems . Kids got a lot out of them . I did guest lectures on all of them from K- 8 . Teachers don’t have the time and knowledge to do these. Kids can’t learn science with just pictures in books . I haven’t taken any video . Since this is 20gal QT . There is nothing pretty to look at just utilitarian . I will take some video now that I have been asked .
