Not sure if this is the right sub. But i'm having problems with my zoas in my tank. None except 1 are open, and theyve stayed closed for weeks.

I have 11 hammers, pipe organ, gsp, pulsing xenia, mushrooms, duncans, and a few others i dont know the names off all open and doing very well. And one zoa is super open. But the rest of the zoas are like... basically dying.

Its a 40gal breeder. Set up for a year. I have a few anemones in there too that are all doing well. Any insight on why this is?

I have taken the zoas out and done those dips, i brushed them off in case algae was growing on them, put them in different spots in my tank. But nothing.

Im gonna be very honest and say i dont do any param testing outside of the basic ammonia, nitrite, ph, nitrate, and salinity. I stick to easy corals for this reason.

I did a test on the tank this morning and ph was 8, ammonia and nitirite 0, nitrate about 20 i think? I added a photo of the nitrate below, cuz i'm not 100% sure. And salinity is 1.025/1.026.

I do water changes fairly often, and the tanks running with a double hob filter and a large canister. Thanks!

Could you post a picture of the whole tank? Zoas and softies like higher nutrients in the water. You didn’t list phosphate, if it’s bottomed out it would tick them off. Iodine on the higher end of normal also makes them happy. If your LFS tests water samples you could have them verify your results plus check your phosphate until you get a test kit. I recommend Salifert.

No no no, to low is worse than to high. You do not want zero unless you like the look of Dino’s. Shoot for.05-.1, mine have been at .25 for as long as I can remember. Zero will tick off your soft corals.

Oh shoot lol okay. Idk why i thought that should be 0. Ok. Thank you!!!! The rest are good range except kH is low too. Would either of these be the cause for ticking my zoas?
