I have a reef only tank 32 gallon bio cube and has a bunch of Zoe‘s in it but this one is closed up and looks like it’s not doing well. Does this look like it’s dying or just going through a cycle help!!

i see what you mean. zoas can sometimes do weird things. (what coral cant! lol) but it doesnt look bad. how long has it been doing that?
That's the right question. If it has been minutes or an hour, id say a crab or something crawled across it. If longer than that, we may have more to figure out. These are not dead, but retracted zoas.

Take it with a grain of salt if you want....Hawkfish *always* look guilty to me. Just look at their eyes.
I think this backs up your theory.

Need a time frame. How long has it been like that, how long have you had it, anything that could be bothering it.

Considering your zoas look fine (at least from what I can tell in the photos) I’m suspecting something bothered it.

They have been like this for a couple of days, I’m not home this morning to check but I don’t have any fish in the tank. The Hawk fish is in my QT tank. The first picture was just for reference.

I do have an Emerald crab and a couple of Skunk shrimp, they do bother them occasionally but not for this long.

I’m going to give them some time.

Thank you

IMPE, my emerald and shrimp walked over, through, and picked algae/food from my zoas all the time! When I transferred everything to the bigger tanks, that seemed to stop as they had plenty of other spots to cruise. However, for bothering other coral and killing my favorite goby, my emerald is now in sump prison! 😂

You might have to dedicate a little time to viewing the tank in the middle of the night to see what's up when "nobody's looking".

Maybe give that colony a good blast of water with your hand/a turkey baster/a powerhead and see what/if anything blows loose....might provide a little relief to the colony.
