ATI Straton X in US

Has anyone put a Straton X on their system yet and seen the app? I just got a pair and the app is not what I see being reviewed at the trade shows. I live in the US and the Reef Pilot App doesn't have a wizard or the cool light adjustments that I see the owner Christian demonstrating. Let me know if you have seen deifferently.

I have 3 straton Xs currently. I don't know what Christian is demonstrating but the app that is currently available for us is not good lol.

yea, the app is no good. All the demos being shown on youtube are of an app that doesn't match up with what is currently available. Maybe an update soon?

Besides the APP do you really like the fixture? Is the 34 x 34" a real coverage?

I have a 72 x 24 x 24 and seems that i will need 3 if i go that route.

Can you share what wattage it really consumes as I have T5 and thinking to move to Led as the Electricity Bill is killing me?

I have been running the ATI Straton X since they were released in the US a few months ago. I was in the first batch shipped out by SaltwaterAquarium.com. That batch sold out within a few hours on a Friday.

So far I have been very pleased the Straton X. The app is very basic but it does what is needed (ie, each light channel can be controlled separately). Once the schedule was set I rarely go back into the app—other than the first month when I was constantly tweaking the schedule. The only reason I go into the app now is if I want a specific spectrum to do work on the tank. For that I use the “Demo Mode” which allows you to set a specific spectrum for a specific period of time. I sometimes use that mode to clean the tank (whiter spectrum) or to mount coral (heavy blues).

@wcharon Each Straton X draws 150 watts. Most people don’t run at 100% so the effective power draw will likely be less.

Love the fixture. It's incredible.

The app is absolutely horrible.

The light is still so amazing that it's worth it, in spite of the app running about as well as a 1995 website.

Agree with the others. The light is very good; no regrets. Spread is incredible (I transitioned from MH/T5). App has room for improvement, but yea, you don't spend a ton of time there. Initial setup was a little odd - for some reason my settings didn't always save, but in the end, it's been solid since getting everything programmed.

One note - if you're a fan of heavy blues (i.e., Radion G6 blue), this light may be an adjustment. Yes, the spectrum can be tuned, but it's heavy on the whites.

@Z Burn's Reefing thanks for the input. I like an in between spectrum around 16k. I have T5 with 2 Blue Plus, 2 Coral Plus, 1 Purple Plus and a True Actinic.

Appreciate everyone sharing your experience. So if i go for it I will need 3 correct as ATI claim a coverage of 34 x 34" correct? I have my T5 at 11" above tank if that helps with the coverage.

Do any of you have a similar tank measurement as mine so i can see the coverage?

Great lights. Only complaint is with random time sync issues following power outages. Doesn’t happen every time but annoying as you can only re-sync via Bluetooth. Hoping they provide an update to fix and add WiFi controls.

What are your tank dimensions? For hardcore SPS tank I believe one light every two feet is ideal but I have two lights on a 5 foot tank which is good enough. If I could justify the expense of a third light that would provide a more fulsome blanket of light and reduce shadowing since you have more LEDs shooting from more angles.

If running a mixed reef then 34” of coverage seems doable since you don’t need crazy par so you can mount the lights higher for broader coverage.

For reference, some areas of my rockwork get 550 par and even the some areas of the sandbed get 250 par. This is nice for SPS but it absolutely cooks some of my LPS. I have to hide some LPS under overhangs, arches, or the corners of the tank.
