Recently acquired this large 8+ in Atlantic Blue Tang. I added it and all my other fish to a new 220 build that had freshly been cycled. So there shouldn’t be any fighting over already claimed territory.

The only aggression is between the AB and my medium size Sailfin. Could this aggression. Ever calm down over time? Or after a week do you think this is what I can expect?

The AB has also got the spots that come and go very quickly. Like over night. I believe she is getting banged up chasing the Sailfin.

Need advice. I really love this fish but I love my long term family of fish more and don’t want the. All to be stressed from here on out.

When you said “recent” what was the timeline? Blue tangs often get discolored patches due to bruising/injuries.
I don’t see any infectious disease here though…..

What a big and pretty fish ( would look nice with my guys :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:
The spots I see appear to be damage from netting which I can believe the case as at its size, most larger nets are 10 and 12" making it a tight fit at capture.
Keep an eye on it to assure it improves rather than worsen. GOOD WATER QUALITY AND DIET will play a role in healing and color recovery.
If it worsens, treatment would be seachem Kanaplex but the next challenge will be a quarantine tank large enough.
Ruby Rally Pro should work for this also and is reef safe as an option but kanaplex more effective

I have had him in this tank for 11 days. She is kind of clumsy and gets stuck in the rock work sometimes when chasing my sailfin. So maybe she’s hitting her head??
Th and for the reply!

It’s Highly possible and I would look at widening the caves and favored areas- prevention is on us rather than the fish

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
