It is your home, your rules. Clarify your rules to her. If she will not respect your rules then she is disrespecting you. If she will not comply then turn her out. Don't lose sleep over someone who will not respect you in your own home.​

You guys have put up with a lot of nonsense from her. As far as her helping you take care of your aquarium, line up a replacement. If it is an important activity to her, maybe she will turn the corner and come to understand that she must comply with your requirements of her. You are paying too high a price and too frequently for that infrequent convenience.

Draw a line with her and be clear to her about it. Your wife has fired one shot across her bow. Now may be the best time for the next one from you this time.

So, wife finally let her have it. She brought a pot (with dirt) inside to show us this plant and put the pot (with dirt) right on the back of a chair. Wife feels bad, but there's only so much you can take.

LOL!!! I was going to say , let your wife handle it. She'll eventually snap and that'll be it. ;) It won't end the friendship, it will just change.
I had a friend that used to come over with her kids. She would offer to buy the food if I cooked. Well, after one such night with a mess still in the kitchen, she called and wanted to come by for me to cook again. I politely told her I didn't know, had some stuff to do. When I got home, there they were, her and her two kids, sitting on my front porch with groceries.
I didn't even make it out of the car before I snapped!! Her kids had never seen me out of my mind! She left with the kids and the groceries. She did come back the next week (invited). Next time I said I had stuff to do she understood. :D

I have a hard time standing up to women. I was taught to always be polite & respectful; Its just how I was raised. So, my wife has to handle that. I've got no problem standing up to a man, no matter what size. :D
