Baby brine shrimp

My baby brine shrimp isn’t hatching!? The first two batches came out perfect but this one isn’t hatching nearly as quick as the other I followed all the instructions any tips or tricks?? I’m going to run out of baby brine for my ponies!!

How are you hatching them? Assuming your doing everything right sometimes you just don't get such a good hatch rate

Also where did you get the eggs from and how did you store them?

hi,recommend two batches running 12 hrs apart,best is 24 hour ,but can use at 18 if needed

I got the eggs from my lfs they’re the San Francisco Bay brand and I have the hatchery from the same brand

The first two I did were hatched in 18 hours and I didn’t do anything different

you can use a jar with a bubbler to get second batch going,they eat a 1000 a day!! have you removed them from high ammonia tank? is this your first batch of ponies :)

I did a 50% water change and the parameters are a lot better not 100% but I will do another water change and hope for the best also added prime to the tank and yes it’s my first

Got you bud. I just brine shrimp direct and always get good rates. I do 3 1 liter bottles and do a bottle per day. What temp of the water that they are in?

Biggest problem with poor hatching are from using cysts that have NOT been properly stored. Stores tend to keep them on the shelves where they deteriorate fairly rapidly. Properly kept should be in a fridge, not on a shelf or hook.
I store the Brine Shrimp Direct cysts in my freezer, taking a small portion out to keep in the fridge for daily use.
I use a mix of sodium chloride (pure water softener salt) mixed 10 to 1 with epsom salts and dilute to 1.018. I use a light to get the cysts to break diapause and at around 80°F they pretty well start hatching at around 12 hours, more at 18 hrs, but some late hatching at around 24 hrs or a little more. You can harvest early and let the unhatched ones keep on until they hatch.
