So last night I took my new feags out to garage to cut off the frag plugs with the dremel. It seems that the dust from cutting made the acro mad. One tip looks half bleached, all in the 5 minutes to cut and put back in the tank. Corals where kept wet by dipping in container of tank water every few seconds so I was shocked this happened. I hope it bounces back it wss doing really good before I cut up the plug. Pics after work.

Well the tip that looked bleached and bad was white and dead when I got home from work. Had to cut it off back to healthy/uneffected tissue. So weird but I guess the dust from the plug was not good for the coral. Wont be doing that again, if a frag wont come off a plug I will need to live with it. Still getting PE on the rest of the coral but it lost most of the green and was getting some purple or blue to the tip that died and it browned out on me as well. All I can do is leave it be and hope it recovers.

Some update pics. Moved the acro up onto the rock, its doing good so I figured dit was time to give it more light and flow. It should color up soon. Did not do my water test today, need to tomorrow. Coralline is going crazy popping up on the powerheads, glass, overflow and the rock finally.

What’s your photoperiod these days now that the lights have been running for a while?

Also, since I have such a similar project, I’m curious if you’re happy with the single return line. I ordered a modular marine overflow and was planning on putting it in the center of the tank like yours, but keep going back and forth on drilling one or two returns. Thanks, tanks looking good too btw.

Thanks a bunch! Lighting which is just 2 250w MH is on from 3:45-9:30pm first light turns on at 3:45 then the second at 4:00, first shuts off at 9:15 second at 9:30. Going to add another 15 min in a couple weeks, my plan is to slowly work up to 8 hours total. I see no down falls to having 1 return, it makes plumbing easier and it provides more than enough flow for the sump, 3/4" return.

Cool thanks for getting back to me! I’ve been leaning more toward just doing a single 3/4” return, like you said the plumbing is a lot simpler.

You should check out my build thread, like I said I’m putting together a very similar tank. Not sure how to post a link but it’s titled, “75g SPS build on the cheap”

Well my fuge light contiunes to slowly die. Now only 1/4 of the cob chip is lighting up. Going to replace it with with a clamp shop lihnt and PC bulb for now and take apart the led to see if the cob or dimming knob had failed.

Here is what I found when I took the fuge light part. Died from over heating, no active cooling, melted the plastic and optic lens amd must have fried something on the COB board.

Picked up a few more frags, got a killer deal. If anyone is in the Mesa Az area be sure to check out The Coral Life for some great deals on really nice corals. Picked up a green anacropora, orange montipora capricornis, green birdsnest and Orange Bam zoas for under $50! Pics, just dipped and put in the tank so not open yet. More pics once tomorrow after they settle in.

Thanks @najer.
I am loving my old 1997 Spectrapure 90gpd RODI! Had it for a long time. I have crap water 475ppm tds and my ro is putting out 3ppm tds before the di. I am using BRS prefilters and di and the basic 90gpd Spectrapure membrane. This setup is working great,I just replaced the filters and di a week ago after Im guessing about 400g of 0ppm tds water.
All corals are looking well also. Doi g water tests and water change today! Still not dosing anything.
