Bacteria?

I started a biopellet reactor about 3 weeks ago, along with dosing Zeobak and noticed some interesting patterns on the glass that seem to be very symmetrical. I'm assuming this has to do with the growth of bacteria? I've just never seen it this way before. Can anyone elaborate on this?

I get this - I knew it was the snails that made the marks, because I've seen them do it, but what's the slime an indication of? It comes bk pretty much every 24-48hrs after cleaning. My Phos is 0 and Nitrates 2.

It's just a dusting of algae that everybody gets. Clean the glass every couple days and your good. If it gets worse and your having to clean the glass every day or twice a day just to see into it, then you have a problem.

With carbon dosing the normal film algae can get replaced by a white bacterial film. Snails seem to eat both IME. Sometimes it can grow in other places too. I've never used biopellets for carbon sourcing but I'm sure they can do the same thing as other carbon sources. I always get a kick out of it when my snails leave those.
