Baffle before Return Section - is this right?

Trying to understand where to set the baffle before my return pump section.

Should there be this much flow over the baffle?

The baffle before the return pump section sets the depth of the water in the skimmer/Fuge chamber usually. The amount of water flowing over the top is based on the flow into the tank. To slow it down, you'd have to slow down the return pump some.

It's going through the weirs and not over the top of the weirs which means it's not too much flow for the sump to handle though.
