Hi all.... my banggai cardinal was last night under a massive attack. All fins are rotted and he is in very bad shape. I know he is about to die :(
But, what happened? I have no added anything new to this tank for about 4 weeks and that cardinal was one of the first inhabitants, actually at beginning he was the bully.
Other inhabitants are: 2 clowns, 1 coral beauty, 1 salefin tang and 1 yellow tail damsel.
Everybody was eating, swimming and behaving normally for last weeks....

My no 1 suspicious is damsel, but just by theory, never seen any aggressive behavior before.

Please help.

Could be the coral beauty also. If you have a qt tank now is the time to save the cardinal.

If the fish was injured or ill before or after the attack. Once injured others can join in. Its hard to tell what started it. Most disputes are territorial or mating in nature

What size tank? My bet is on the sailfin tank
