I was reading an article from tailgater magazine and they talked about how one of the choices for power at a tailgate is using a marine battery and an inverter. Does anyone do this? Is it just any marine battery and an inverter? I saw info about echo tech battery but I suspect that is pricey as designed for aquariums.

Deep Cycle AGM is what is normally used by folks going off grid in a camper or RV

Yes, lots of people do this. Much better than the Ecotech battery backup (will last a lot longer, and can power more things).
