Prior to joining here i browsed around a bit. After seeing how much nicer people are here instead of someone posting a question and getting smart remarks, you actually get help here and not criticized! havent bothered logging into the other forum i belong to since! love it here, great people!!

People are super nice here, and there are no questions on this forum that are too basic to ask. I've learned so much and have never felt put down for not knowing something. I try to pass along the little I know and continue to learn from all the great people here!

Hey on a brighter note, usually after cleaning my sand bed, within 2 days its covered with diatoms ... i only have one small spot now! ... is it possible the vodka dosing is beginning to work? Even my glass is much more clearer than usual.

Some of the effects from vodka I almost noticed immediately, clear water and brighter sps within a couple days. I don't know of it is the carbs in the water or what but the acros seem to love a small amount. I did notice some cyano after starting, I changed to vodka vinegar mix following ratio of vsv easily found online without the sugar. It seemed to help but I am ordering some microbacter7 to use also. My acros like it so much I still add 3mL a day even though my nitrates test at 0.

With the dose we got you started at, yup, it will be going to work really fast. But... you will also be cleaning the glass more, as there is going to be a big bacteria bloom going on. No frets, it goes away once you lower the maintenance level.

Thanks for all your help. Now to just wait for the bacteria bloom to stop so i can put my filter socks in! PITA having to change them out every 3 hours! lol

Yea, theres a down side to everything, but once its done, your on easy street.
