So its time. The BC29 has been a good tank, But it has its shortcomings. The main ones being a tiny amount of water volume and very limited equipment that will fit in there, And dont get me started on touchy nano skimmers.

So i have a SCA 45Cube on the way, a 40B set up with Exotic Marine Systems baffles which will make for a great sump, and a box of BRS goodies. I plan to get the stand built this weekend as long as the tank arrives and also the bench in the basement that the sump will live on and have some work space. The extra volume will make things a bit easier for me if i have to be gone for a week. One of the prime things having enough volume and safe haven for some pods to grow for my scooter. She eats frozen but when i leave i feel bad having to have my co worker who reefs check in and feed every day.

So here goes!

Mrs Scooter.

Verticlowns. The 2 of em love that corner and swimming head down.

Heaters, return pump, sand and an mp10wqd(Will get another)

I got the table all built and level in the basement.

Started cutting the steel for the stand.

And moved a few things downstairs. Excuse the clutter in the background. I rent a room in a house and there is some... un needed items in the basement.

Humpday update

I have the stand finished and the paint is drying. Its not my best fab work but i haven't done any welding in the last year and a half so I'm happy that being considered. Its all .120 steel because i already had it and way overbuilt for its purpose. Ill rig up a shelf in the middle but otherwise its going to be an open stand, I used the appliance enamel on it and a few light coats seems to have covered well.

Put a coat of polyshades on the top deck for the stand, Tomorrow have to rub it down with steel wool and put another coat on it. 2 should suffice.

And yesterday the tank arrived. Its gonna have to live on the porch for another day or 2 until i can get it inside. Before that happens i need to drill the back for a 3/4 bulkhead near the top for the return. I have a 1/2 and 3/4 bulkhead in the overflow and the current plan is to herbie the smaller one as the main drain with the larger as the emergency. 1/2 shouldnt have any issues keeping up with the return rate according to the flow curve for the return pump. I am open to any suggestions on why durso would def be better but as of now i have no reason to believe the herbie wont work well. I would love to do a bean animal but there isnt enough room in the overflow box and drilling for a return is enough for me.

Leak test was a success. Now i have the hard part of figuring what to do with this dam rock.
I have a big brute of pukani that i have been slowly curing, tested it with my local guy who has a Milwaukee Phos tester and it was .00 so more than good to go. I just suck at scaping!
