The other day I posted on the selling forum that I was looking for a specific reefing supply. I promptly received a private response from a R2R member saying they knew someone who had what I was looking for and gave me an email. I thanked them and sent a request to the email. I got a reply from the email with a good price and payed via Paypal.
The seller then said I needed to resend the money as "Friends or Family" so the funds could be released right away. I said I was willing to wait. Then the seller said that the Paypal account I sent to was his secretary's and I needed to send it to a different account. My money was refunded and I sent money again to a different Paypal account. the seller asked that I released the money right away (mark it received) so he could ship. I was already skeptical of the sale because the price was to good to be true so I tried to follow up with the R2R member who referred me. To my surprise, the member no longer existed on R2R.
In the mean time the seller said I needed to send him proof of the Paypal purchase, I sent a screen shot. They then said it was going to ship the next day. The product never shipped. I did receive a refund.. but am sure I would have lost it all if I would have released the funds.
Beware.. there are bad actors on R2R. Never send Money as Paypal "Friends or Family" unless you know the seller. Never mark a product received unless you receive the product.
