Found a small Aiptasia outbreak in my 20 Gallon Reef tank. After some ups and downs and rabbit holes I ended up deciding to try and breed Burgia.

Found a 10G AOI waterbox for cheap on FB, a hyger reef light and took some live rock and dead rock I had and put it in the tank. 300 Dollars later, I have 100 Aiptasia and 25 Nudis. Day three of them in the tank, the Aiptasia are massive and the Nudis are hunting in their packs. Got a breeder box put in the tank to hold a dozen Aiptasia protected from Nudis to breed.

Things I learned:
-Aiptasia sting other species of Aiptasia. Got some from my LFS and they wilted as soon as the other species moved over next to them.

-Nudis hunt in a group or don’t like to eat on their own

I have read mixed information on how fast Burgia can eat. I am hoping to be able to breed and source enough from my LFSs to keep this going.

Any reefers that have experience breeding Aiptasia and Nudis, I would be very curious to see what I can improve for the set up.

Day 5: everything is tall and flowering. The Nudis hunt during the day now and their backs are turning brown which tells me they are eating. I poke and feed the Aiptasia and many babies are starting to pop up. No eggs yet.

I think you may be seriously misjudging just how fast berghia can eat aiptasia. I have seen tanks for breeding aiptasia to be used for raising berghia and there's no remaining space in the tank. They are covering the bottom and the walls. They have to actively try to keep the aiptasia propagating by cutting them with scissors.
