BTW I had sent an email to Clear Water Scrubbers, and they replied back that their smallest current model is the CW-100 at $600 shipped.

I have the Foursquare. Works great, but if I had to do it again, I'd try the SURF4. Takes up less room, seems simpler and easier.

Its single output but comes with a Y splitter. I’ve used and gone through many many air pumps. This one’s quality and power is unmatched for the price range.

Surf 2 series needs min of 5 LPM and this 8w model does 10 LPM. Turn the dial to max, back off maybe 1/8 turn and it’s absolutely silent

For the surf scrubbers, as long as the unit fits in the sump, then it should work? It wont have room to float around, just float in place... i have a big skimmer and a reefmat that takes up most of the sump.

It just has to fit and be able to float. It doesn’t need room to go anywhere. You do need a small gap on one side for standard tubing from an air pump to feed under it

Ended up getting SURF4X. Been running for about over 4 weeks. Still getting the black/dark green slime stuff growing in it. Cleaned it once according to directions. How long does it take for the green algae to start or I’m I doing something wrong? Phosphates and nitrates real high.

Mine was growing the nice thick green stuff. This last harvest, I unfortunately delayed too long, maybe 10-11 days. When I opened it there was hardly anything there. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I want to swap out my HOG for a Surf. The HOG is just a bit too difficult to remove without releasing tons of algae into the return pump.

Would the Surf2 be too much for a 70g system? I have a bunch of caulerpa in a refugium, but I'm sitting around .2 phosphate and 50 nitrates. My coral is doing great, but I'd like to bring the numbers down a little bit.

I used a Surf2 in an 83g and it worked great.

I have no idea what size to get. They don't rate it based on fish or gallons. I know how many fish and I know how many gallons. I've never fed cubes, so I don't know how many cubes I'm feeding. It's a 50 gallon display with 2 zebra dart fish, a starry blenny, a christmas wrasse, and a tomini tang. There's a ton of coral and a ton of gha.

If you have space in a sump, I would get a Surf 2x. You don't have a huge bioload, but that scrubber is about the right size and the easiest to use.

I have a separate refugium that would fit it...barely. It's a little aio that is 9.5x11.5.

Difference between the # and #x are that the #x has an additional red LED that pump some more PAR (and maybe more uniform coverage) into the unit. I haven't tried all of them, but it supposedly helps get the really green stuff covering the surface and less of the brown/green slime.

Santa Monica support is super nice, they can help you size it, but the afformentioned Surf2x is likely a good fit,

Depends. With my surf4 I was using this air pump:

It is very quiet.

Now I have a rain8 however, it needs a water pump instead. I bought a Sicce Syncra for that.
