Hey guys,

Having an issue with the clear anemone boxes I have getting super dirty. Any recommendations on a better box or how to minimize/prevent this?

Clean your tank, turn your lights off....Haha

I use 2, one in tank, one out. Swap out the dirty one with clean one ,clean it, wait for the clean one to get dirty and repeat.

Also keep in mind that the boxes with slits -- like the one in the photo above -- will not keep BTAs inside. I have a Zen Reef box with the same slits. My BTA escaped one night, and the cover was on the box, so the only way out was through one of the slits! I suggest looking for a box with holes instead of slits.

Any you specifically recommend. I have had this happen once before. Just got a csb so definitely don’t want to risk that.

As a temporary fix, I lined the walls of my box with Darice #10 plastic mesh:

Amazon link here

It comes in different colors but I chose black because I can use it for other projects.

Clear should work too.

You can also line the bottom of the box in case you need to quickly and easily remove the nem from the box.

A black floating pond plant basket is very cheap and already has the proper mesh size. Also let’s water flow in. That might work?

I've read stories of them getting through the slits in the overflow. Can't believe they'd fit through the ones on a box though.

Here's what our new rainbow is doing in its box right now
