I am looking for a good camera (Canon point and shoot type). I'm not going to spend $3K on a DSLR.

For years I had a Canon A700. It did everything I wanted (color swap, manual mode, etc.) At this point my Galaxy S8 is better. The old canon is 6MP and the focus simply takes too long if it works at all. I want something that I can adjust to stop the blue light from washing everything out.

If I would be better off just buying s $30 yellow lens for the Galaxy I would. I'd like something to take crisp pictures of the reef (filtering out some blue)and pictures of the dogs, flowers, etc.

I'd like to be in the $300 range, and I am a Canon fan.

I would look at the used DSLR cameras at places like B&H Photo and Adorama. You can get a decent DSLR and lens for around $300 and it will give you much more flexibility than a point and shoot camera.

Honestly you are going to have a hard time finding a good DSLR and lens for less than $300 and your Galaxy probably takes better photos. Actual camera doesn't matter as much as the lens. You can check out Prime day to see if they have any deals going on

A pawn shop can be your best friend in these situations. I picked up my old canon rebel xti from a pawn shop for $100 about 4 years ago.
