Hi, I’m looking into getting a refugium with mangroves I have everything with the exception of the light (I’ve been growing the mangroves outside for now)

What would be the best light for mangroves
And how much par do they need

What is the coverage area and how large do you plan to let the mangrove grow? if This will be a larger affair, you may want to consider something like viparspectra

I think the area is 15 inch by 15 inch
And the mangroves will stay small

Since the mangove is in a CO2 rich enviroment and def not a shade plant it can probably take as much light as you care to throw at it.
What one species of mangrove "sees" in nature..

I'm attempting to do it with those black boxes you get from amazon. I've only had it for 2 weeks so no progress either way good or bad yet

Are you planning to prune heavily to keep it small, using bonsai-esque techniques?

I'd just get a simple, strong LED floodlight.

I use this light for all of my reptile enclosures as it does a great job growing plants. I think it would be great for what you're looking for. I use the 150w version but they have a 450w version if you're looking for as much light as possible.

Just note actual wattage.

Please note the power consumption is 50 ± 5W, while replace traditional 150W HPS/MH.)

I don’t think it would be anywhere near powerful enough for a mangrove. It’s only rated at 12 watts.

And it is mostly " burple"... ;) which sure wouldn't add any aesthetics...

This 5000k one may actually be better .It is dimmable (100k pot or 10vpwm or 0-10v analog). Probably same cob as the first one:
