Best Nitrate Test kit

Just like a lot of other people here, I have been waiting on the new Hannah Nitrate checker to come out... I like digital... I suck at reading color variances.... yeah, then I watched the video on that thing. Wow, lots of steps and lots of continuously needing replacement reagents and filters... now I don’t want it. ....tooooooooo many steps.

So, that begs the questions... what is the best nitrate test Kit out there?

Nyos.
My only issue with Nyos is the number after 5. 12 then 25.
Somehow I always got result between 5-12. Darker than 5 but lighter than 12.... 8 it is. LoL

Anyone else have an issue determining the level with the nyos test kit? I always get confused with the colors and start to justify for the level im looking for lol. I wish there was a few levels between the 5-12-25 to distinguish the results. Is a gold color closer to 12 but still under it?

Red sea pro

2 nyos kits kept telling me 0, kept dumping in neonitro, kept reading 0, got another nyos, 0 reading. Started getting a bad GHA outbreak, switched to red sea pro. Red sea tells me I'm over 20ppm. I will never use another nyos kit in my life.

Hey Dahas. I have the same issue but I think the darker it gets, the higher it goes. So if it's darker gold, would be closer to the higher number

Nyos is not a good kit, the colors do not match the chart, you have to infer what the shades are. It works below 5ppm but too many steps. I do love the idea of the blank however.

Salifert is the best, very easy and little steps.

I guess everyone is saying nyos im not sure how haha, It never matches a color. It got worse when I emailed them and they told me I should be below 10ppm anyway. So i am not sure why they went up past 20ppm.

What makes it even worse is when you go tot log your nyos nitrate test results in apex it only lets you enter those odd numbers. i know too well its not the listed number but would be nice to manually enter it. I suppose i could just select a different test kit and fudge it a bit!

Not sure why you said too many steps for the nyos.

It's almost the same with salifert steps.
Nyos steps:
5 drop of reagent A, shake.
1 scoop of reagent B, shake for 1 min.
Wait 5mins.

Way different. Salifert is 4 drops and one scoop, no shaking, 3 min wait. The 1 min vigorous shake reminds me of API and no bueno.
