My marbled catshark is showing symptoms of flukes, redness on skin scratching, white stringy thing on head. I'd like to do a prazi bath just to be sure. 260 gallon system. Should I add to new water first and put into tank or just dose for the whole tank? Also how long does my protein skimmer need to be off for? I'm not worried about oxygen levels I have an air pump open top sump and strong powerhead with rippling waves. Also how often should I dose? And when can the protein skimmer be turned back on after dosing?

I'll be the first to admit that I know next to nothing about treating sharks for anything. I know they are intolerant of copper, but that's about it lol. If you know that prazi is ok with sharks, I'll trust you. Prazi in general is dosed twice, 5-7 days apart, with a water change in between. Would do it ideally with fish in QT. But if done in DT, would just do it with skimmer cup removed rather than turned off, so that it can provide aeration.

Yeah prazi is safe with just about any fish, as long as the tank is properly aerated and you don't overdose.

Two doses, 5-7 days apart with a 20-25% water change before the second dose.

Prazi is in a liquid form, so no need to dissolve in water first. I usually just pour it slowly, a little bit at a time into a high-flow area.

If for whatever reason the shark or any other fish seem to be reacting poorly, as long as it’s been at least 10-24 hours you can do a water change. Anytime before that, and the treatment will likely need repeated or you’ll need to determine another course of action.

I was able to confirm, that most sharks do handle prazipro just fine.

Thank you, from what I've read prazi is one of; if not the gentlest medicine for aquatic animals.

Do you know when protein skimming can be re-enabled? Honestly theres not much organic waste in the tank just the young catshark and a clownfish, I have it turned on right now overflowing back into the sump for aeration.

I’d just dial it down and when it stops overflowing like mad, put the cup back on and re-adjust. The skimmer will go crazy for longer than the medication needs to be effective, so you can’t really resume too soon.

It’s been a while since I’ve had to use it in a display tank... but I’m pretty sure I waited until a few days after the second dose and did a water change. After that, the skimmer was better and I put it back online.

I also introduced the prazi with a 10% water change. As pet the bottle's instructions.

In 5-7 days you’ll do a water change, before the second dose. Then after at least 24-48 hours, if you want to do another water change you can.
