Now that I have diatoms growing, I tested nitrates and it’s sitting at 11ppm and Ammonia is .55 ppm

What does this means in terms of cycling? Should I be doing anything or just let it continue to ride?

It’s been a long time since I’ve cycled a tank myself but I believe you have to wait until your ammonia drops, then you know your bacteria population is up. Then it’s off to managing your nitrates. Hopefully that bottled bacteria does its job.

Just purchased a new return pump!

I have several tanks and my Biocube 32 has always been my favorite!
IMHO you will not need an ATO because you will have a very little evaporation. I will top mine off around every two weeks with maybe a gallon of RODI water.
I upgraded the lights to Steve’s LEDs, I upgraded the return pump to a mighty jet, I installed dual three-quarter inch random flow generators, two InTank media baskets, filter floss at the top, Chemipure Elite below that, and I have as much Seachem Matrix that I can fit in the remaining room left in both baskets.
It has been up and running for about eight years.

Has anyone used the DCP -2500 Jecod? Just got mine and have some questions about fitting in Biocube 32g.

Havent used that particular pump but finding one that fits in the return section can be a challenge. There’s the actual fitting in the chamber issue also you can only pull water through the back chamber so fast. I would up settling on a sicce 1.5 and it worked great

I actually have that pump brand new in a box, but I am so impressed by the mighty jet and it fits perfectly in return section that switch it out. I probably should’ve done it sooner, but I just took it out for the first time in at least five years and cleaned it and it was still running great.

How do the screen settings work? When I change the speed it’s F but then it shows P on the screen. The mighty jet fits with the black sponge in place?

My tank has an earthy almost dewy smell. I replace the filter cloth daily as it’s brown and dirty. Is this just a symptom of Diatoms algae?

Can you tell me more about Steve’s LEDs? Helping my mother set up her Biocube 32 and I’m not happy with the stock lights from a color perspective. She likes the tank, so I am hoping to find something that fits the lid.

I found them to be super easy to install and the instructions were very detailed. I absolutely love them.

I had the same sort of smell in my Biocube, I was/am dealing with chrysophytes. I removed the top because I like to keep my house on the warmer side and was starting to have heat issue. I do not notice the smell anymore. Not sure if it is a coincidence. Probably not that helpful for you. But my filter material smelled that way, since removing the top I do not notice it anymore.

Where do you get them?
