Just started up a tank again after being out of the hobby for 8 years. I settled on Biocube 32g. I added intank media rack and intank fuge. Currently looking for suggestions for what to stock in the media rack and fuge.

Tank is currently cycling after being dosed with Fritz 9 on Friday.

congrats on the new system! For media, you can never go wrong with filter floss (no cleaning needed, just toss and replace) and a high quality activated carbon (in a media bag, of course). I use and enjoy these products in all my filters:

filter floss, cut to size: https://amzn.to/4cEXJVq
Rox carbon, small granules and little to no dust: https://amzn.to/4u0BvnP

Thanks, what do you think of the rockscape? Are they too many dead spots?
I don’t think so but I would add more rock for fish to hide and it’s your primary filtration. I’ll send you a link to my build thread. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I have about 20 pounds of live rock, how much more?

You could add more rock if you wanted to, but that will be fine!

My only concern is it being right up against the back of the tank. Usually, I don't like rock being up against the back because it makes it almost impossible to clean. Again, personal preference.

Thanks everyone, I think I’ll pickup a few big pieces of rock and make a kind of curved rock scape built up! Will send pictures as I progress

When I had my Biocube, I ran a skimmer instead of a refugium. In my intank media basket I ran filter floss on the top, Seachem matrix in the middle, and a combination of carbon and purigen in the bottom (in a media bag). If my phosphates were creeping up, I'd mix some GFO in with the carbon and purigen, which is essentially what chemipure is.

General rule for rock is 1lb per gal of water. I had 25lbs, plus a little extra surface area for bio filtration by using the matrix.

Aw man, I bought more rock but I ended up messing up my scape :(. Should have left it as it was.

Has anyone updated the return pump?

Curious if it’s worth upgrading to the below or not necessary
