Birds Nest Placement?

Well what the heck am I doing wrong than? I had it at mid level for 5 months, white skin but great pe and light green polyps. I'm not liking the white skin :( I want it back to its original color when I first got it.

Maybe a bit to sterile in there for it, I have an ultra high bio-load 125g DT with 24 well fed poopin' machines feeding a jungle of Coral. Even though Nitrate and Phosphate levels are rarely detectable I know that there is a HUGE amount of nutrients being processed through my system.

i usually had the pinks and greens up top .I had birds of paradise(my fav and fastest growing ) and ponape towards the bottom, always worked out well.

Well this is where I put it....back lol. Regardless, its staying put. I have noticed one thing. None of you have mentioned what lighting is being used. Why is that?

Nana, full DIY Broad Spectrum LED for 3+ years now. You can see the emitters reflected in the 'Top Down' pics above. Not much difference to the overall spectrum from your Reef Radiance fixture.

Besides being one of the Green polyp variants of Seriatopora caliendrum don't know as I've see at least three distinctly different morphs. I will probably add the darker flo. Green variant to my mixed colony next go around. I really like the ability to combine this family into large mixed specie colonies and have had very few issues doing so. Just certain ones outgrow others so need to be aware during original placement. On my new tank upgrade am planning to stack in tier fashion against a back corner by drilling mounting holes along the Tonga Branch their on now and leaning into the corner. I can envision it in my head and will have to just wait to see if it comes together as planned.

I was so frustrated with were to place it. I now know most of this was due to the actual shape of the coral itself. It has grown funny on the plug. I was wanting to place it so it stood straight up but the trunk has curved.

I hate to be a problem child but ... 170 PAR. I never would have believed it until this one took off. I have kept pink birds in 300+ PAR before.

It's a green birdsnest, low light.

Resurrecting an old post! When you say low light, are we talking 150 PARish? We just got 2 colonies of ORA Green yesterday and according to my meter, it's getting around 380 PAR. Is this too much? (Ignore placement, they fell over - about to readjust once we figure out the lighting) I've read that different birdsnest require different lighting. At first I thought they all require high lighting.

Pick a spot and keep it there. You moving it around isn't letting it settle into its placement. From my understanding most of not all birds nest can be placed anywhere there is flow. Find a spot you like and let it settle, it's polyps and color will eventually come around. But if it starts to bleach then move it to a less area of light.

+1 moving it around every couple days only does harm more then help, remember with sps its consistency that plays a major role in their well being
