Black Leopard wrasse and Choati's

I'm looking to add the above mentioned fish. Is there anything I need to know about the Choati? I have a Ornate now and it's doing great. It's eating well and pretty comfortable with everything else in the tank. The pet store that has the Black and Choati has had them for about 4 weeks. Both look great and are eating very well. I've added probably 8-10,000 pods in the last couple months so I'm sure that will help. Is there anything else i should consider? Dropping $400 on 2 fish is a little stressful. LOL

Blacks can be more difficult then ornates but not by much, they just seem to ship worse. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if it is eating and no pinched head/skinny.

Choati is a lot more difficult than the other common ones. Choati have a history of mysteriously dying after months of doing well.

If they have been there a month and eating, buy them but know these fish carry risk, and you may lose your investment.

If I’m honest, if the choati has been there for a decent length of time, I personally wouldn’t hesistate (I know mine was only there for a week or two if that and I wasn’t letting that chance go by).
The Blacks are difficult but they’re not as difficult as the choati can be.

I talked to the store manager some more. The Choati has been there almost 2 months. The black has been there a month. I bought them both. They were both eating like pigs,especially the Choati.I figured I'd take the chance.

If I’m honest, my choati is smaller than my pink streak wrasse male (around 1 inch) and she is loving life - Generally it’s the shipping and feeding that’s an issue which is why I took the chance when I could as getting that fish to not be DOA is a PITA (I’ve learnt this 4-5 times now as every time I’ve tried to get one, they’re DOA).

In your experience how long do they usually hide in the sand after being added? My Ornate was almost a month. The Black and Choati have been in just 24 hours. I'm hoping they come out in a few days loving life and eating as well as they did at the LFS.

Thought I'd give a update on the fish. After a extended period of aggression from the Ornate and yellow wrasse things settled down and both fish are doing great. It took a good 2 months before the Ornate would leave the Choati alone. I was sure it was going to kill it. Then it stopped just as abruptly as it started. Thankfully.
