Black pods on my Euphyillia (frogspawn)

Hello All,

New to the forum but I have been keeping aquaria for a while. I am also having an issue on my frogspawn. Little black pods of some species.

I have tried CoralRX at standard and 2x dose, but it does not seem to affect them. Using a baster to blow them off was the only way, besides something like freshwater dip. The coral does not seem to be shrinking/dying at this point. They are prolific though... Saw them on one of my montipora frags and dipped it as well. Did not see them on any of my acros. We'll see later today.

I will try the iodine dip. Concentrations?

A closer up picture of one of them would be helpful. A few of them look like amphipods by their "curled" shape, which are beneficial.

Yeah. I would like them to be amphipods. From the way they scurry in short bursts on the flesh of the coral makes me feel like they are copeopods. I do not have a microscope to take the proper picture. Will see if I can get a few to work tomorrow for a better picture. I was zoomed in all the way with the Note 20. Just not enough...

I am not an expert on coral pests, but these appear to be parasitic copepods (Red/Black bugs):

I will look at the treatment methods and report of the success of the treatments.

I have both melafix and potent iodine solution.

UPDATE: I got a sample of CoralRid by RS and it did the trick. Actually killed a lot of things I didn't know was there. Stunned the pods and they fell off with a little help from a baster. They swam for a few but were non-mobile in a few minutes. Bristle worms didn't like it either. Micro stars curled and died. Flatworms (I didn't even know I had) died just after the pods.

Overall very effective.

CoralRX did not work on the black bugs...
