Have any of you ever seen a black widow BTA change colors? I had mine for about a month (definitely a Black widow, had the dark almost black base, white stripes around the mouth, and blood red tentacles), and it got ticked off when I reduced the white part of the lights down (had an algae outbreak I wanted to nip quickly. It shrunk down a bit, tentacles were just nubs and it looked more like a pancake than an anemone. I returned the lights back to normal, and now the tentacle nubs are turning green.

yes, BTAs can change colors depending on their environment.

Coming back to this, any idea if it'll return to the original color morph, or has my $150 black widow now turned into a $40 RBTA?

Once the anemone returns to health and happiness. It should regain its colors back.

Awesome. It is producing more tentacles again, still short and nubby, but returning. I've really wanted the blackwidow morph for a long time. Ultimately in the end even if it doesn't return to the regular red black coloration I'm still gonna keep it. Gives me an excuse to get another one lol

Just keep her happy.

Did the black window have large shiny white speckles by chance?

Was curious if the color has returned?

No, has the white streaks around the mouth.

The color does seem to be returning. More tentacles have come out, and they are returning a shade of red similar to a rose bta. Same streaks that show on your picture in your thread. I still suspect it was something with the white light channel when I turned it down, I've noticed it doesn't seem to care for straight blue.

Sounds more like a sherman. Black widows have white speckles scattered around the tentacles. Shermans are very brilliant red and have white stripped mouths. I believe many reds can possess those as well.
