No other nems in the system. Latest corals were February, added a porcelain crab (which has since disappeared) in April along with a conch, emerald crab, and then a ywg in early May.

I’m no expert to say what’s causing it, but the timing between the squid makes it suspect number one in my eyes. The pistol shrimp which has been in the tank since October did dig a new tunnel on the other side of the tank around the same time. It’s possible it stirred up something in the sand bed. But tests haven’t shown anything other than they’ve read for months now.

Ultimately, I’m frustrated with it, but all the good signs have me feeling hopeful it will pull through. It’s acting very much like when I first got it and eventually it was fine. I don’t recall how long it took, but think it was about 8-10 days of treatment until it fully stopped deflating at dusk

Good as new at dawn again

Its looking good at re inflation. If they sick they usually inflate less and less with every deflation/reinflation cycle. Fingers crossed

The thought is that overfeeding can lead to bacterial growth due to undigested food in the gut which in turns causes the anemone to get sick.

I’ve recently become of two minds, not sure which is correct - either like you said the undigested food rots leading to an infection, or the cipro just causes it to simply purge whatever is in its guts. In this case, spit back out the undigested food that might be causing issues, which might be why a lot of dead zoox get expelled on new arrivals.

New update: it shrunk down again last night, then back as usual during the day. Just checked on it at lights out and it’s inflated, though a little flat. Mouth still closed so I’m taking this as progress

its also possible that it may not be bacterial at all, which is why cipro may not be working in alot of the cases documented on threads etc. we just dont know. Your haddoni will shrink a little when its lights out, ill take a pic of mine later today so you can compare

Just an update - seem to be doing better. Biggest I’ve ever seen it during the day the last few afternoons. Evenings have been noticeably better. More or less displaying its typical amount of pre sickness “shrinkage” with the light cycle changing, where it’s noticeably smaller but not a mere fraction of itself daytime self
