Hey all,

I’ve got a blue haddoni I’ve had for close to 3 months now. Since having him he’s had almost zero stickiness. He came from another reefer who claims it was in his tank and a buddies for 8+ years. He’s anchored in the sand and hasn’t moved since introducing despite his spot leaving him partially shaded. By midday he’s pretty full and open but he does deflate a bit at night. The mouth is always tight and during the day he looks healthy. The zero stickiness just seems like something’s wrong.

He will eat but do to the lack of stickiness I have to place it by his mouth and turn the pumps off. It seems to take food well and respond to it well. He’s hosted by two clowns. Any thoughts?

Last photo is him at night. He gets noticeably smaller.

I almost lost my haddoni years ago with similar symptoms and a pair of clowns. Then I fed and watched, the clowns took the food from the anemone and it was basically not getting any.

So take a look, feed them separately then feed it, or feed more. I don't think the light requirement is huge, but the food requirement is there.

I have started feeding him clams. I have to play defense from the clowns but it is eating.

I’m in a similar situation and believe that mixing blue Hadonni with other others Hadonni induces allopathy in them. As soon as I introduced my green one the blue started shrinking. I’m still trying to get them to live together with increased filtering mechanisms but nothing 100% effective so far. There are a few threads on R2R on this topic of mixing Hadonni if you want to research a bit more on the possible issue.

I do have a second small (3”) green haddoni plus a green gigantea. The gigantea has been a pain lately but that’s my fault - I move a power head and he then detached and floated into said power head.

I have been aggressively feeding the haddoni (which I wasn’t previously doing) and I’ve noticed an improvement. He’s fuller throughout the day, and has a slight stick to him. Previously he had zero stick.

I’ve also been dosing cipro 2x/day since my gig got caught in the power head. Really just being cautious trying to make sure he recovers well. He seems fully healed he just won’t anchor anywhere. Foot looks like and wasn’t damaged in the power head incident.

It also looks like you have a leather on top. These can asLo be problematic with allopathy and had to remove them from my ritteri tank. I’m also thinking of removing the one I have with my hadonni tank to see if there is any improvements.
My blue Haddoni has seemed to improve since regular clam feedings. He even has a slight stickiness to him. However, my gigantea still seems meh. Both went through cipro, and when the gigantea got caught in the powerhead I did do some display tank cipro dosing for about 2 weeks. The gigantea is super sticky still, but isn't taking food. Both the gigantea and haddoni are noticeably smaller than usual. Not deflated, nor are they doing any deflating, just reduced in size - but consistently reduced in size.

I am going to try and pull the two large leathers I have and see if they improve. I care way more about the anemoes. Plus it'll free up space for more SPS. It's just so frustrating with the gigantea. It was HUGE and arrived in such good shape. Was really looking great for close to 2 months before it got caught in the powerhead.
