Got a new coral 2 weeks ago, pet shop gave it to me to free up space, called it a 'lord brain' but couldn't tell me anything else on the name or species. Went away for a day or two and noticed when I put the light back that there's a bleach ring around it. How do I get it to recover?

did you leave the light off while you were gone?

What kind of lights are you running and what are the No3 po4 levels in your tank? That looks like a relatively new tank, could be that it is starving.

That is likely played a large role in what you are seeing. A big shock going into a new system followed by a period where it wasn't getting any light. Keep it stabile and normally lit for a while and watch what it does. It should puff back up. When it does puff up, see if you can get it to eat.
