It was bound to happen...
I ran into my 1st problem.

Sick fish

My blue eye kole tang has something going on with his skin.

I thought i noticed something a couple of days ago but now I can see it's a problem

Not sure how much of a problem but, a problem nonetheless.

It started as a small white spot (not ich). It almost looked like he might have scraped himself on a rock.
It was just under his mouth, right between his gills.

Well...
It's spreading.

I took pics but he does NOT like my phone!
I'll try to clean the pics up a bit and post them in a few minutes.

I'm working on it.
He's hard enough to take a pic of under any light.
Brought light makes him hide even more.

I'll pay better pics as soon a i can.

While waiting on better pics/video. Some additional history would help:

How long have you had the fish?
Is it showing any other symptoms?
Could it be sparring with another fish?

I can't take all the blue out of my lights.
But I toned the blue down and amped up the white.
Hope these pics are better enough.

I've had the fish for about a week.
No sparring or fighting.
He's eating and seems otherwise healthy.
He's skiddish though.

The best I can tell is that this is an abrasion, possibly with a bacterial secondary infection. Treatment would be in a hospital tank and treat with a broad spectrum gram negative antibiotic like neomycin or kanamycin. The trouble is, catching the fish and moving it to a smaller tank can create additional injuries.

You typically need to avoid treating your display tank with antibiotics - these can harm your beneficial bacteria and some invertebrates/corals.

There are a variety of antibiotics you could try. I prefer neomycin or kanamycin. Avoid using any of those “tonics”, you need a true antibiotic.

What fish med am i looking for?
I know of neomycin to treat pink eye in humans.
I don't know what to get from a fish store.

Oh, o.k. - Neoplex or Kanaplex from Seachem would work.
