It's been a while since we checked in, so here's an overdue update, and finally a picture! A few of you asked for photos back when we joined, and here's one of our juveniles in grow-out.

We've been heads-down raising fry and building out the hatchery since that first small batch. We now have a handful of bonded pairs going to new homes: Black Frostbite, Extreme Snowflake and a couple of Mocha pairs. Each one is listed with a photo of the actual pair, so you know exactly what you're getting. If you're curious, they're at blueeyedclowns.com/bonded-pairs.

We'll try to post updates here more regularly, with fry progress, pairs and whatever we're learning along the way. Happy to answer any breeding questions too.

Quick Tuesday update from the fishroom. No new pics this week (working on it), so here's the question we get most when a pair ships out: what do I do the first few days after they land?

- Take your time acclimating. Float to match temp, then drip slowly to match salinity. Rushing it is the most common mistake we see.
- Keep the lights low or off for the rest of the day. They come out of the box stressed, and a dim tank helps them settle in.
- Hold off on food until the next day, then feed small.
- Add a bonded pair together. Put them in at the same time, not one now and one later, so they stay a pair.
- Give them a spot to claim. A rock cave or a soft coral works fine; tank-raised clowns don't need an anemone.

Right now we have four WYSIWYG bonded pairs up (Black Frostbite, Extreme Snowflake, and two Mocha pairs), each with a video of the actual pair you'd get, at blueeyedclowns.com/bonded-pairs. We've also got singles in stock, including Snowflakes, Frostbites, Wyoming Whites and Storms.

Happy to answer acclimation or pairing questions right here. More photos soon.

Tuesday update from the fishroom, and this week there's actually some news.

We had a rough stretch with hatches. A bunch of clutches went into the hatch tanks looking good and then gave us nothing, or just a few fry. Turned out the water was dropping more than 4 degrees from the parent tank once we moved the eggs, and that was causing the hatching problems. I made some adjustments to get the temp back up, and the hatch tanks are sitting around 85.5 to 86 now.

First test of the fix was last week. Morticia & Gomez's clutch (laid Oct 6) had a good hatch, at least 100 fry. Skull 2 & Pearl's clutch from the same day hatched about 30, with some eggs that didn't go. Not perfect, but a big step up from where we were.

If you're hatching your own, check your hatch tank temp against the parent tank before you move the eggs over. A few degrees is easy to miss, and it made a real difference here.

The earlier batches in grow-out are looking great, and several more pairs laid last week, so there's plenty to watch. Pic is Morticia & Gomez.

More pictures coming now that the fish (and the weather) are cooperating a little better.

Quick Tuesday update from the fishroom. Short one this week.

Last week I talked about the hatch tank temperature problem and the fix, and the good hatch we got from Morticia & Gomez right after. Since then the tanks have been holding steady around 85, and two of our pairs laid fresh clutches last Wednesday: Morticia & Gomez again, and Sony & Cher. Those two clutches will be the next real test of the warmer hatch tanks, so fingers crossed. I'll report back on how they do.

Pics of the fry, the pairs and the grow-out tanks are coming. I know I keep saying that, but I'm working on it!
