BM curve 7 break in

I would raise it slightly again if the cup will be overflowing by the time I got home from work. Otherwise leave it and dump the cup when you get home.
I have read a few things I. The forum lastnight some peoole decreased the airflow into the skimmer as well as adjusting the water level. I am planing on running a airline to the outside air on this since my sump/fish room is a closed off room located in the basement so maybe add a small valve?

That will help to raise the ph and the inline valve will give another point of tuning. With that being said, I try to use and break in equipment before I start making modifications. If you are having an issue with a lower than desired ph then have at it. but as far as it not running or skimming how you think it should I would hold off on any mods until it is properly broken in your your tank. This obviously is just an opinion and by no means am I saying I’m an authority on skimmer set up.

Yeah I agree and understand, just frustrating I’ve used BM curves before with no issues or tuning and i treat myself to a nicer one and I’m having issues

Been fighting same issue with my 7 during break in. I currently have it 8 inches and running like this for days now. Doesnt seem to have gotten entirely better but def noticeable difference.

Curve 7 elite?

Have this thing sitting in 5.5 inches of water still no luck I’m starting to regret this purchase

Ok I need a explanation here came down to the fishroom do my routine Sunday morning coffee and maintenance just swapped out filter socks and dropped brand new ones in and I turn away to drop my used socks in the dirty bucket where they wait to be washed come back and the skimmer level droped way low

I have a curve 7 extreme and it works great . I'm not sure what the difference is between the extreme and the elite but from what I've read it's got a stronger pump than the curve 7 . It runs in 9 inches of water . I don't use filter socks I use floss . When I change the floss to new if I don't rinse the floss well in RODI the skimmer overflows like yours is doing . I would definitely let yours run for a couple of weeks before doing any mods

Yea it’s a sicce Italian pump and the black and red color scheme that makes it “elite” I guess I have this in 5.5 inches now and it’s skimming pretty well but I just put brand new out of the package floss in and it stopped overflowing I just don’t understand the science behind this lol

I ordered adjustable skimmer stand so hopefully I can get this back down closer the the recommended water height

I’ve had the curve 7 (regular) running on my 100 gallon for the past 3 years. Mine runs in 9 inches of water with setting of 2. The initial break in can take a couple weeks but it will settle down. I had to suspend mine almost out of the water for the initial break in period but after it breaks in it works great. It has been a solid performing skimmer. If you take apart the entire skimmer and clean it, you will go through another break in period. I hardly clean mine anymore other than the skimmer cup though.

Geez does it have a lot of build up in the base?

Perhaps you have an abundance of surfactant in your tank water? I've used brand new filter socks without rinsing them first and my skimmer (not a BM) goes crazy for a few hours lol.

I have a Curve 7 with the DC pump in my frag tank sitting in 8" of water that's never done what yours is doing...so???

Normally a brand new skimmer won't hardly make any foam at all, that's why I suspect some type of surfactant in the water.

Take the collection cup off open the air filter hole at bottom let it run for a few days . I'm around 10.5" water level. Only skimmer I have owned works for me well. Break in sucks.
