Boil Filter Sock?

Hi,

I have been reading about how people clean their filter socks for reuse. Seems that the prefered method is dish washer/ washing machine with a bit of bleach and when needed a dechlorinator. I have also seen powerwashing, but i do not have one.

I was wondering if anyone here just simply rinses thorough/ and then boils the sock. Would this be effective? Risks?

I wash 8 socks once every two weeks on hot, two rinse with one bleach tablet, they come out white

I don't use socks all that often. But when I do, I just spray them with a high pressure hose nozzle, rinse off in ro, and let air dry. Is it that important to use bleach?

Funny enough I went to several stores and amazon and can't find regular bleach. I am beginning to give up on finding regular bleach and instead I am currently soaking the socks in a bucket with a half a bottle of peroxide and then doing a quick rinse in the washer machine.

Where do you live that you can't find bleach?

I went to nylon mesh and you can literally wash/rinse by hand in under two minutes

Currently using about 60 felt socks every 6-7 weeks, 1 per day on my 650g system alone.
Tried the reef diaper, but they are useless, removing almost nothing in a week!

Do you have the means to use a hose sprayer on them? Not an actual pressure washer, just a nozzle. I do this and "power wash" mine on the driveway, then either soak overnight in a bucket with a 1:10 bleach to tap water solution, then let dry, or after hosing them off, do the washing machine/bleach method. The bucket is usually easier for me though.

I used to turn them inside out but checking to see if there are any worms in there first. I would rinse them then wash them with a bleach pod and extra rinse then air dry. But they loose their filtration ability so I just have a cup and floss now.
