Hello! I also practice Bonsai (though I wasn't trained in Japan!) I think you'll really enjoy reefing - it takes a little less patience than Bonsai to see the results you want, and you can even turn Mangroves into Bonsai for your tank! I will say the patience you've gained from Bonsai will help you build a solid reef since as in Bonsai, nothing good happens fast :)
