bored at work

i just came into work about 40min ago, and i'm already bored out of my mind.

i'm here for the next 12hrs...so what all can we talk about? the forums here and over on RC seem a little slow tonight.

i am a chemist that works for a government/military contractor, we make the BIG fireworks basically. we are shut down for the weekend, but for some reason they wanted me here alllllll night. very pointless.

but anyways, enough about work...ya know? lol

the cube is coming along, its sitting on the outside deck to my apartment, i had to put an entire primer coat on it. which...is kinda hard to do when its 10 freakin degrees outside lol

hopefully i wont have to put another coat on it, then i can just paint it black...which hopefully wont require more than 1 coat.

that looks pretty sweet! i always wonder about their pics though....and the price....and the fact that you dont really know if its wild or *true* aquacultured. i dont like how some places break off a branch from a wild colony, keep it in the tank for a couple of months and call it aquacultured. (not saying RM does this though)

its just that most places dont sell aquacultured pieces that are near as large as what RM sells...which makes me think wild.

eww yuck, i used to be a biochemist, but i got very tired of it. i do like molecular biology and toxicology though. fun stuff.

right now, i'm kinda in a position where i spend half my time as a chemical engineer, in a bunker changing flow rates, temperatures, turning valves etc. while we make TNT, and hoping i dont get burned by acid or get blown up.

then the other half of the time i'm in the lab, doing analytical testing on what we've made, and analysis on compounds that we accidently made. so when i'm doing that i'm essentially an organic chemist.

lol i have no idea what that is. i know we do make small caliber, medium caliber, and very large caliber amunitions, but i have nothing to do with that stuff. ;)

i make the stuff that goes inside the amunitions and goes "zeeeeeeeeer", or "kabooooom" LOL (mostly the kaboooooms)

at this installation, i know we make the medium caliber amunitions, that are used by the gatling gun on the A10 Warthog. we also make the smaller rockets for the apache helicopters. and the shells for the Abrams tank.

along with primer caps, nitrocellulose, nitroglycerine, tnt, smokeless gun powder, and a couple of other things i'm sure i'm forgetting.

the company also makes the boosters for the space shuttle (the big white rockets on the sides). my boss used to be the head of that division out in utah somewhere.

if its a missle or a rocket that is used by the US military, its almost certainly made by us.

your right, they do look VERY low. i thought the same thing when i saw them. they were on a news release sent out to employees. said they were taken from the international space station.

seems too high to be from a plane, but too low from the space station since i thought it was in a high orbit.

Amazing pics...I am a sucker for pics like that! Does look a little low for the space station at an orbit of around 350km.
