Hi fish nuts, I am going through a tough debate of which fish of these two to keep. They are both nice to other fish, however they just hate each other so one has to go. Which one would you guys keep under the circumstances.

Thanks!

I have a personal "thing" for parrots (some would call it an obsession...), and the Bowers' is a beauty - sorry to hear that he's not wrasse-safe!

Longer-term, I've heard more success stories with wrasses than with parrots though - all strictly anecdotal, of course.

~Bruce ... probably not really helpin' . . .

Is the tank acrylic or glass? Parrots can scratch up acrylic.

What size tank? The parrot ultimately needs more space.

Which one do you like better?

It's a 12' acrylic tank with corals so there are rocks to graze. I like the parrot better because he's newer but I'm not sure about his longevity from what I've read. He's eating NLS and frozen but I read their main diet is firstly microalgae followed by crustatea. I put the wrasse in the sump for now until I decide and will revisit my thoughts in 2 weeks to see how well the parrot acclimates to his new tank. The christmas wrasse is rare and beautiful also but he kind of limits me keeping other wrasses as his intent to to kill all wrasses.

I have a Christmas and a Melanarus in a 125 gal with no aggression.
The first day the Melanarus chased the other one around a little bit, but that’s been it. Very peaceful coexistence.

I think the op's christmas wrasse is a different species than yours.
