Thinking… should the new build be a new thread or keep this one rollin rollin…

My vote is for a new thread with a link to the new thread at the end of this thread.

I look at it like this; if you were to rebuild a '66 Chevelle and then started rebuilding a '67 Chevelle would the '67 need/deserve it's own build thread?

While being similar, it's a completely new challenge of its own.

I don't think it matters one way or the other, except, if you are keeping both tanks running not just during the transition but long term then a new thread may be appropriate. If the old tank is going bye bye then why a new thread? The upside is that the old tank is fully documented and the new tank is fully documented but your 'journey' is now fragmented. I care much more about the reefer than the reef.

I don't know how many interesting threads I've followed only to end up where the tank was torn down and the reefer went in a whole different direction on their next build. I did a new thread when I went from the Waterbox nano to the lagoon. I don't think anyone has read my Waterbox thread in years. It is just wasted space that will end up being read by some AI agent in a few years and then burned. Useless.

But you keep many of the tanks going until you run out of room for tanks, so appropriate.

The alternative would be the

'Tim Brown multi-tank extravaganza ultra build thread'

To me there are two kinds of build threads the ones that you read to see what gear and livestock the person used for a tank you are interested in and maybe copy some of their philosophy/decisions; and those that are about the reefer and their journey. I tend to find the later to be more engaging long term because you follow the thinking, the trials and tribulations, the agony and the ecstasy (shout out to old Olympics coverage) of the reefer through multiple tanks, maybe even tankless periods.

Hey all,

Tech drawing should be finalized early next week and Ill start the new thread

Have been playing around with how many lights im thinking option 3 and 5 are looking the best but option 1 is not terrible if i do torches/ lps island on the left side (far end of the peninsula)

Any recommendation from the experts in this reefverse?

Man.. this ulva outbreak is kicking my but!! Fluxrx, manual removal anything! I have gold ring cowries, tux urchin and a tomini tang. High or low nutrients. Anyways on the new build with tang gang rabbit fish, foxface it should be taken care of… i hope..

Not all is bad, I just approved glass cages tech drawing so its official!!

Man flux got rid of a lot but ulva is the most annoying one to get rid off. Flux obliterates bryopsis. My guess is manual removal for a couple of extra months until tank is large enough for rabbitfishy

Anyways… auto feeder (auger version) I designed is working well. 2 things tho…
1- the auger printed with supports so i have not been able to clean it well so while it rotates through that side a lot of food comes out. (Tighter ridges and slice it in half, glue it together so no supports are needed, is my thought)
2- i designed it with lids that close with screws and screws over water is a nono… so its duck taped to cover screws and it looks like the ugliest piece of that you have seen

I honestly find it amazing what can be printed with a 3D printer, and forget a lot of times what all I can print with mine, haha
