I've never had a mint julep. I should add that to my "to do" list.
Me either. I dont even know how to say it. I'm from South Carolina, the poor cousin of the south that lives in the rundown single wide with 10 broke down cars in the front yard. Nothing highfalutin around here. :D

I agree. It wasn't the third week of October until I saw Christmas decorations at home depot.
We once ran out of candy early on Halloween. I ran to the store to quickly pick up some candy and all the Halloween candy was gone and they were putting up the Christmas candy displays.

I'm allergic to pine trees. Even pine scented stuff. It gives me nose bleeds. Plastic or real, we all know it's about the lights!!! Give me colored Christmas lights by the hundreds!!!!!!!
My mom is also extremely allergic to pine, so we always had artificial trees. The first year I lived on my own, I got a real one. Went right back to fake, the next year!

I've had my Christmas stuff up long enough at this point. I think I'll decorate for Easter next week. ;Wideyed;Wacky

I'll deal with the needles... keep the stand full and they dont dry out that bad. Also get a fresh cut on the bottom. The sap dries and blocks the water from getting into the tree.

Also, the bonfire on Newyear's eve from a dried out Douglass fir is glorious.

Yeah that's right, the tree was more important than finishing the trim on the stairwell and replacing the receptacles ;Smuggrin

I wish I could do 12ft, but 8' is as high as I can go. 8' ceilings in the house, but the living room is sunk about 6" so the taller tree fits. I think I had a 7 and a half foot last year.

This is the only room we can do it in, it's now the dining room it's great having a nice wood burning fire going having Christmas dinner with the tree on the opposite side.

I have a wood burning fire place in the living room and love it, but I've always wanted to build a house with 2 or 3 fireplaces... in SC, where its above 70 for 3/4 of the year and over 90 for half... :p

Speaking of, I need to hire a chimney sweep and buy more wood. Mine didnt want to draft right the other week when I lit it up for the first time this year. Stuffed it full of cardboard and sent fire halfway up the chimney and that got her going.
