Brand New 8 gallon bio cube

All is takes is that one time your snail knocks your frags off, your trying to grab the frags on the sandbed, your eel with horrible eye sight happens to be extra hungry and mistakes your fingers for shrimp, bites you with super bacteria filled teeth, you jerk your arm back, knock down your live rock structure, breaking corals, cracking the back of your tank, flooding your house, killing all your livestock. Now I gotta ask.., was it worth it?

Sorry to hear about all the arthritis. I can tell you I just was part of some research on some meds to come out in 2020 that are injected into the joint and actually get regrowth and reduce pain and cancel surgery need. We will see but so far it looks very promising. Not stem cells. Actually looks at a pathway we first described in fruit fly wings long long ago.
I have actually heard something about this recently. Don't remember where. Maybe her left knee can hold out long enough to benefit from this down the road, or benefit me when I start to fall apart. She has also had two surgeries on her neck 5-6 years ago. Fused at several levels and had an artificial disk put in at one level. She has really had a tough time with all of this.

Very nice! I love my backyard and the view also. Nothing more relaxing after a long day. When is this threads block party?
A block party at @Katrina71 's house! Now that would be a hoot! :-)

are eels a dumb idea in a reef tank?
They also tend to not want to stay in the tank, unless you have heavy glass tops on the tank. I had one in my old 200 FO tank years ago. He was in there a couple of years and then one day he was absent at feeding time. Found him a couple of weeks later - on the other side of the living room - under the television stand, stiff as a board.

Haha, that's a real 'glass half full' outlook on eels!

@fabutahoun may have another YouTube follower. There was a puddle of drool after seeing your YouTube video.

Thanks sfin and everybody for following!!

And congratulations on your new tank inhabitants.

Depends on the type of eel, the size of your tank, your rock scape, other inhabitants...

It's not so cut and dry as yes or no

When will this block party be?

Seriously, I was going to have you all come down when we open the store. We could do it early before opening and have a blast. That way we don't invade Katrina's house. This will be the @Katrina71 squad invitation party.

What do you guys think?

Sounds like a trip to me...

This.

I had a white cheek take a plug out of my thumb while cleaning.

I also had a huge snowflake in my 180 reef that I had to shove out of the way because he would want to rub on my hands and be fed. He was uber tame.

So it all depends.

Yea, I love tessalata eels. They are so pretty. They are completely 'reef safe' until they aren't, lol, then they eat everything in your tank seemingly overnight. Maybe one day I'll have a large tank dedicated to one.

@Fin I see Kratom is legal where you live. Get your wife some. The kind sold in a gold foil pack. It's a shame they banned it here. I have taken it 4 or 5 times and it does make the pain go away.
Thanks. I have never heard of that. She is under the care of a pain management specialist and has a grocery list of drug allergies. I'll tell her, but she is reluctant to try different drugs. We have made a number of trips to the ER from introducing new prescription drugs.

BTW, @Hemmdog is dead on about the bacteria from an eel. My thumb was touch and go for a month. They actually said at one point "Cut if off". There is only a small scar now and a rough patch of skin that is hardly noticeable. Glad I refused.
