I haven’t found any studies that show when nutrient uptake occurs. I watched all of
Dana Riddles presentations to see if I could find anything.

I’m still feeding during lights on for me but not at peak intensity. The idea being corals can actively feed and some remains in water column at lights out.

I’d be curious to see if anyone could show anything definitive around feeding times. Antidotally I know LPS exhibit a pronounced feeding response about an hour after lights out. I would assume SPS are similar as I see significant polyp extension at night from my SPS.

I read somewhere corals take up aminos more during the lighting period

I'm not part of the test but have been using Coral Amino for 1 month. Coming off of Acropower. Here is a comparison photo. Don't know if it shows up in the photo but I'm seeing decent growth, deeper purples and pinks. I'm broadcast feeding during photo period.

Are you using the recommended dose per Brightwell on the container? And when you started, did you also use every day for the first 4 weeks per the directions? I've heard some folks use half the dose up front to prevent algae outbreaks.

Assuming you do not turn off all forms of mechanical filtration when you dose?

I'm broadcast feeding 1ml per 50 gallons daily. I shut down my skimmer for 15 min when adding. According to the instruction you can dose up to 5ml per 50 but I've only been dosing the 1ml.

Tank looks good. I have noticed some polyp extension when dosed. It will be interesting to see the two month comparisons.

Dosing 10 mL per day. Switched over to dosing through my DOS so doing all day long.

I dose right after my slimmer so everything goes right to display. I have slow tank turnover says stays in display longer.

Can those using post their dose per gallon and frequency.

Dosing 10 mL. I had used Acropower in the past so my tank had a larger tolerance for aminos

I have a total of about 110 gallons. I’m dosing 35 drops nightly about ten minutes before lights out. I also was dosing about 2 mill acropower before.

No3 is still undetectable, however I have been feeding now four times per day. Hopefully it will show up soon.

Steve your tank is looking good.

I have started to see a couple corals perk up a bit. A few are starting some new growth. I think the next month will be a turning point. I have also been dosing 30 drops per 120 gallons. I’m going to keep dosing.

Thanks!

The Vivid’s Fire Garden and JF Jolt are show the most dramatic change in color.

The Fire Garden was a brown stick when I got it home from RAP LA and is starting to show some nice color coming out now.

Here are a few with filter and without.

The Vivid Fire Garden continues to get more red.

The JF Solar Flare is new and has already started to base out.

Looking good. I’ll post some pics Tonight when the lights are on. I’m dosing 35 drops per 110 gal. Corals are perking up a bit. I have some polyp extension starting on some corals that have been just hanging on. And my palmers blue Millie has some new growth. No real coloring up though. My no3 has been bouncing around from undetermined to 1. It’s usually around .5ish. I wish Hanna made a checker for this.

The BRS Brightwell amino test of officially coming to an end. I ran the aminos for two months and have seen some really great things and some less than desirable.

Coral growth and color was improved. I added a JF solar flare and it was based out completely in weeks. I also saw better color in all of my corals.

I did notice an increase in a few pests algae’s in my refugium and a slim in my sump that I hadn’t noticed before.

Overall I would say it was a big success and would recommend dosing aminos to any established tank. I have no opinion over type of amino. I would encourage all tanks to go slow and new tanks to be very cautious with aminos. My system is years old and had slime and algae issues, I would imagine a new tank could easily crash.
