What causes this brown jelly that can take out a favia or chalice frag in hours? Is it bacterial? Wonder if running UV will prevent it? Just what is it? I had half of my riddler chalice zapped in 5 hours!:too_sad:

As difficult as it is for me to respond to a Titans fan, I will. Hey Andy. not sure man - did this happen to the blue favia you got last week too or just a chalice? Is it on any other pieces? If you need me to hold onto anything until you fix the issue, just let me know. I've not seen this jelly stuff and hope I never do....you may want to cut the riddler (assume from Dave) on the good side of the jelly, dip it and hope for the best. That stinks man.

HAHAHAHA!!!!!..funny guy..Yes the one I got from Dave. So far this one Craig. Ive heard of this before in other threads but no one has come to a conclusion to what it is..to the looks of it the tissue seems to be fusing back to its coral structure. But id like to prevent it from happening again some how.

Man I feel your pain except mine attacked mostly my zoas but also some SPS for some reason it never bother my LPS. This stuff is a pain to get rid of I tried everything the only thing that worked for me was a reduction in light time and a HUGE water change

Im pretty sure its a protozoan... sorry no way to cure it that I know, I tried everything and it wiped out my whole acan collection. I would honestly toss the colonies that exhibit the brown jelly. I tried to generously frag my colonies and it was weird, it seemed like it helped but it eventually caught up to the newly fragged pieces as if they weren't fragged. BJ is still an enigma so please post your info so we can all learn more.
