I've had a BRS single reactor for quite some time now and I have not been impressed with it. I was running GFO and Carbon in this reactor with an MJ400. I was only getting the GFO to tumble on one side.

About a month ago, I decided to try ecobak pellets instead of the GFO and carbon in this reactor. I now have an MJ1200, but I am still only seeing tumbling on one side of the reactor.

Anybody else use this reactor with the same problems? Can you recommend a pump that might work better?

ya me im running a double with a 1400 and the gfo bearly tumbles if at all and the carbon only tumbles on one side

with an MJ 1200 running on a dual reactor my GFO tumbles fine. pellets on the other hand are a no-go as far as tumbling in BRS reactors IME.

Same problem with me as well using the pellets...love to hear as well what stronger pump we can use

Weird...I was using mine running GFO with an MJ1200 and barely even had the valve cracked open and the gfo was tumbling all across the top (you don't want GFO completely tumbling or it will give of sediment dust). I've since switched to Vodka and ditched the GFO but I've been planning on using this reactor with the MJ1200 to run Ecobak on my new tank. From my experiencewith the GFO, I wasn't concerned about it until reading this post. Seems to me that with the valce opened half way or more, it would be just fine.

The type of tumbling across the top is what I was trying to get, but wasn't even getting that. The video on youtube of this reactor shows the GFO tumbling the correct way and also what you don't want (too much). This is one of the reasons I posted this, thinking something may have been not working properly, but from the other posts, it sounds like others are having the same issue. I'll try and get a video of what my ecobak pellets look like in the reactor

I've got one as well and it's not even hooked up any more. I'm using the big Two Little Fishies reactor with 1L of Ecobak and it works well

I got the dual BRS reactor with GFC and GFO then I switched out the GFO with the WM bio-pellets. The GFO was tumbling fine(halfway open) with a MJ1200 but the pellets is pretty much pulsating(all the way open). I just started my pellets today. I think it's best to get a single reactor for the pellets or get a pump stronger than a mj1200.

for the MJ1200, double check if the fittings on it are super snug, so there is no loss in pressure. Also, for the Pellets, I think you have to mod the reactor from using the foam and putting in a plastic knitting type board or something like that.

I've heard about the mesh screen mod but on what I have right now, should I take out the middle foam inside the reactor? The tubing are all snug inside, so no loss pressure.

they still wont tumble. i wonder if its the smaller diameter tubing causing flow issues. i opted to use a different reactor for my pellets, but i still like the BRS for Carbon and GFO when i run them.

Do you guys have the 1/2" tubing and MJ200 adaptor for your reactors? Mine rages with the valve even half way open.

I have the tubing it comes with, which I believe is 1/2". MJ1200 adapter? Not sure what you are referring to, do you have a picture? Are you running biopellets or are you saying it rages with Carbon or GFO?

I ordered new fittings (available on the bulkreefsupply site) to break out my dual reactor into two. It was about ten bucks. I am going to run carbon on one side and pellets on the other. I have two mj1200 - BUT i havent hooked it all up yet to see if i need to actually run two separate pumps.

BRS has a NEW canister that fits in the either side of the reactor made specifically for bio-pellets, its has a mesh top instead of filter pads (this is necessary for good flow).

You should soak your pellets on RO/DI for a couple days before throwing them in the reactor or they wont tumble well.
