Could be purer than the old mix. So you need less for the same 1 gallon of water.

No, purity is not the issue.

The mass of the new recipe is close to what it always was/should be.

BRS uses my diy recipe and adjusts it based on their exact materials available.

Fluffiness changes brand to brand.

I’m not certain that there is anything substantial wrong with the new recipe, but I’m not certain if the volume value is right.

The old volume number seems high, but maybe their old material was extra fluffy.

Do you still get the same weight as the old recipe mix? Seems too good to be true if the price didn’t rise

Yea. The sticker means it was recent change. Happier if it makes the same potency. Interesting they didn’t put a disclaimer of why on the sticker.

Has anyone gotten an update? I just mixed 4 gallons with the old formula before I saw the sticker on my new bucket. Submersible pump made a lot of grinding noises but it did finally clear up.

Alright so my trident has been reading steady 8.4-8.6 with the solution I mixed to the old formula. No adjustment to dosing quantities
Has anyone used the new formula? I’m curious to see if there is a need for more solution?

Looked into this a little more and I would say they were using light soda ash before and they switched to dense soda ash grade. Another reason why it’s always better to weigh things out rather than using a measuring cup. 1 cup of old BRS light soda ash weighed 170 grams and 1 cup of dense soda ash weighs 260 grams.

Good info, but would still like to hear @Bulk Reef Supply input on their product

It is also a lesson to read instructions on each container of anything you are using. I know I would have missed this if I was using this product during a change.

Randy Holmes-Farley is accurate in his statements, there has been a change to the fluffiness of the soda ash. For this reason we have updated instructions to reach the same concentration in a gallon of water with the soda ash we currently have. The new instructions and weight are correct for the soda ash we are using at this time.
